Small correction. The 1st pic is not Hitech bus from 1994. That was made in 1999-2000. Very small numbers. These buses were fit with Tata 1510 engine. Leyland buses were fitted with chasis from either Jaico or Bebbco. They were real beauties.

They were launched in 1994.
The first set was Ashok Leyland rear engine with Azad coach.
Trendy looking buses which were doing 80KMPH those days.spotted on vijayawada highway doing 80Kmph.
First set of rear engines run from Hyd and between Vijayawada,Bhadrachalam, Godavarikhani, Bangalore and Puttaparthi(not sure).
Next set of FE leylands came with Azad coach with door after driver cabin. In mean time, Tata engine depots got coaches built by Ruby, which was a big flop. They really suck.
No one knows the reason for the discontinue of the RE hitechs. That time, i was in Khammam. I have travelled in a RE leyland Hitech luxury to Hyderabad, which was really pathetic with speed limit of 55Kmph. Bad memory.
Those were the golden days of APSRTC,who are always first to introduce new technology,like AC sleeper Mayura with Air suapension, RE Hitechs.
* why all luxury busess are built by bebbco,sutlej,etc from other states. why cant we have own bodybiult unit.
